ArtifactChippendale mirror eagle

This piece, “Interpretation of an Early American Eagle Mirror,” repurposes a simple, pine-framed mirror, with added decorative elements fashioned from recycled copper: an eagle, trees, fish, and butterflies. It is a celebration of earlier American crafts and living and the timeless natural world of New England.

About Paul Angiolillo
I enjoy experimenting with different mediums and styles, yet often creating semi-organic, semi-abstract forms with natural materials. One aim is to express and celebrate the warmth and universality of these materials, such as wood, other kinds of plant life, and stones. Carving and assembling, I also sometimes incorporate common objects, aiming for a feeling of either whimsy or social awareness. Studying the Humanities in college, I became interested in the visual arts around 1998, studying with master carver Joseph Wheelwright in Boston and elsewhere. Today, I exhibit in various sites, including outdoor shows, museum gift shops, and galleries.
