Lighthouse #1

Regular price $400.00 $0.00 Unit price per
An old lighthouse with a copper dome stands on a sunny shore, wrapped in climbing vines and dotted with little wooden rooms and balconies built on over the years. A stone staircase leads up to its arched door, as if someone has made a cozy home here. The piece is ink, colored pencil and watercolor on deckle-edge paper, floated on a dark green mat in a distressed white wood frame.

About Boris Rudelson
I’m a watercolor artist and illustrator living in Wayland. I trained at an art school in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg, Russia), and I’ve always preferred graphic media: watercolor, ink, pastel and pencil. I love how watercolor builds layer by layer, with each one adding more light and story. My favorite subject is whimsical houses: crooked cottages, lighthouses, castles and tall narrow homes covered in flowers and tiny details. Each one starts as a pencil sketch and grows into a place that feels almost real, but not quite. My art lives on the line between the real world and imagination, and I try to keep it there, never slipping into plain realism or pure fantasy. I also paint quiet forest scenes and illustrated the children’s book Whimsical Way: A Curious Journey on a Special Street.
