This work is a mixed media collage on a cradled wood panel, which was created with photos and letters from a WWII soldier fighting in Europe for democracy as well as the freedom of concentration camp victims. The soldier is risking his life for his beliefs just as George T. Dickey did during the Civil War.

About Judith Stein
I am a mixed media artist with a home studio in Needham, MA. For years, I have loved painting abstract landscapes and pure abstracts. My favorite medium has been oil paint mixed with cold wax medium. During the past two years, I have broadened my art practice to incorporate collage work and printing techniques. More recently, I have been exploring eco printing techniques using natural dyes to imprint the shapes, patterns, and colors of leaves and flowers onto paper. Through this process, nature is transformed into a unique piece of art that is personal, precious, and permanent.
