About Tim Marsters
Portrait photography from 1850 looks, to me, to be stiff and unnatural, so I tried for a portrait of Sarah that was gentler and showed what might be the start of a smile. I was So taken by the interplay of the solidity and rectilinearity of the column and the softness of her face and the flow of fabric. Also, perhaps to call attention to the Heard House itself, a wonderful resource in Wayland.
