Transfiguration

The collage was created using a pressed flower, gelli-plate printed papers, Japanese papers, and found papers. It is matted and placed in a wooden frame. This piece relates to the Japanese concepts of wabi sabi (simplicity & imperfections) and impermanence.

About Judith Stein
I am a mixed media artist with a home studio in Needham, MA. While I love painting with oils and cold wax medium, recently, I have become intrigued with collage and the innumerable ways to express oneself using both hand-painted manufactured papers, photographs, digital images, magazines, fabric and text. I have also been exploring gelli-plate printing and monotypes. Creating engaging compositions and balancing shapes, colors, and textures is an immensely joyful and rewarding process!
