Inspired by the landscape in Iceland, there was a place in Hverir where the ground had cracks and mudpools that were hot and bubbling. They also had a very strong odor! I did a few paintings of this area, and this is one of them. I used crackle paste to make the texture appear as it does.

About Rena Shear
I have been painting for over 40 years, starting with watercolor. I studied with Marjorie Glick at DeCordova Museum School. Then I switched to acrylic paint and worked with Elizabeth Ahern until her passing in 2020. I am now painting as an abstract artist.
