Lighthouse With a Balloon

This postcard is printed from an original watercolor and ink drawing. It shows a blue-and-white lighthouse joined to an ornate Victorian house, standing on the calm sea at sunrise. Colorful flags run from the rooftop to a single red balloon, and a flowering vine climbs up the wall. It's a small, whimsical seaside dream to send to a friend or keep for yourself.

About Boris Rudelson
I'm a watercolor artist based in Wayland. I trained at an art school in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), and I've always preferred graphic media: watercolor, pastel, sepia and pencil. I love how watercolor builds in layers, with each wash adding depth instead of covering what's beneath. My work follows two paths: nature scenes like forests, brooks, mushrooms and wildlife, and whimsical architecture like crooked cottages, lighthouses and castles. In both, I try to stay on the line between the real and the imagined. My whimsical houses also appear in my children's book, Whimsical Way. I also paint commissioned house portraits.
