Long & Winding Road

It may be a Beatles song, but to me, this captures the feeling of driving switchback roads. This colorful piece was created with papers I printed using a Gelli-plate.

About Margo Ezekiel
I create abstract collages, using papers printed on a Gelli plate. I love this medium, because it allows me to create rich, textured prints and collage papers without using a press. My art ranges from quiet and serene to vibrant and bold; I'm always exploring different styles and techniques. I work organically. I rarely start with an idea, but rather look to my very messy table for a spark of inspiration. Sometimes a collage comes together quickly and just “works.” Other times, it becomes a hot mess, and I have to throw everything off and start again. I aim to create a sense of depth from the varied layers. I also strive for a balance of shapes, lines, surfaces and colors in a unified composition. As I’ve learned from other aspects of my life, simplicity is the hardest thing to achieve.
