Short Stories: You Can't Make This Up!

Date: Friday, February 6th
Time: 7:30pm
Location: Arts Wayland, 35 Andrews Ave.

Join us for a night of short stories spoken by the ones who lived it - and they may be your neighbors!

Their stories may be funny, tragic, prophetic, or dramatic, but all will be engaging! Arts Wayland is holding its first storyteller evening we’re calling ‘You Can’t Make This Up!’ on February 6th at 7:30pm at the Arts Wayland gallery.

To all amateur storytellers - Do you have a story to tell? Well now’s the time! This is NOT a competition! And there are few rules! Is there a story you’ve entertained your friends with many times or one that you’ve held inside for a long time and feel that it’s finally time to share? It could be of a recent event, or one from decades ago. As long as it’s engaging!

We ask only that you refrain from using any props or projections, diagrams, etc. and that your story is TRUE and that it happened TO YOU. The use of note cards is fine.

To apply for a spot, please submit an audio or video recording of you reciting your story (easily recorded on a smart phone and emailed or texted) to the link below. It must be no more than 6 minutes long. While we expect to accept all submissions, we will review for appropriate content. We do need a minimum of 6 participants and will limit the number to 12. At the event the order will be determined by names drawn from a hat, and once all have recited their tales we will draw one name who will then tell an additional story - one that has not been vetted! - so prepare two!

Arts Wayland will ask for in-kind donations from those attending to support our efforts to bring vibrancy to our little town.
