The Massachusetts Gothic reception and reading

Arts Wayland and the MetroWest Writers' Guild invited Massachusetts authors to reimagine the myths and legends of our state by authoring new fiction stories and poetry.
Arts Wayland will open its doors on 9/25 for a reception and reading of these stories in celebration of the upcoming spooky season.
AUTHOR BIOS
Howard Wolke
Howard Wolke is a writer, teacher, father, and techie (although not necessarily in that order). He is in his twenty-second year as a middle school teacher, most of that time in Lexington, MA. His debut novel was "Cryptid Academy," and it now has two sequels: "Cryptid Academy 2: What We're Made Of" and "Cryptid Academy 3: A Safe Space". When he's not writing or teaching, he loves sharing deep thoughts and absurd jokes, all of which are met with groans and eye rolls from his wife and two children.
Jenna Riedl
Jenna Riedl (she/her) works with the MetroWest Writer’s Guild when she’s not in the mountains, slowly becoming Tom Bombadil. She writes primarily eco-fiction and poetry, and has work forthcoming with Gastropoda and Hotch Potch magazine. The Ordinary Magic in Extraordinary Tales, a Hollow Oak anthology featuring one of her short stories (and fellow guild member Amelia Burton), just came out.
Pete Harbeson
My name is Pete Harbeson, and I live in Waltham with my family. I'm a recovering technologist, recently retired after several decades in big technology companies everybody used to admire but lately seem increasingly sketchy. Sean Zinn

Sean Zinn (he/him) was an author who was active in New England in the early AD 02000’s. He was a founding member of the MetroWest Writer's Guild and served on the Board until AD 02034 when he attempted to add indoor plumbing to his ancestral estate. There have been no confirmed sightings of Sean since then, despite many reports of his disembodied voice requesting a left-handed pipe wrench.
Luke Acton
Luke Acton (he/him) is a writer with a BA in English and experience in journalism, the short story, and poetry. As a student at Connecticut College, Luke enriched his love for creative writing, winning two awards for fiction writing and verse. After graduating, Luke continued to work in the writing realm, writing for Essex Media Group, a North Shore newspaper company, covering Peabody and Lynnfield. He then joined Arts Wayland in the winter of 2025 as one of the first two interns the organization welcomed into their team.
