The exhibit is brought to life through dynamic events that deepen its themes of awareness and action, including the opening reception on June 6 at 5 pm, featuring a performance by eco-dance company Liquid Spine. Their movement-based work highlights the urgent needs and narratives of our water systems, with dancers adorned in wearable art made from recycled ocean debris alongside a screening of environmentally focused films.
Throughout the month, the gallery will also present selections from the FOR THIS EARTH – Screendance Festival, curated by Liquid Spine, showcasing films that explore sustainability, environmental activism, ecology, and the beauty of the natural world, including works from artists across the globe such as Assembled Worlds (Slovenia), I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR (USA), Our Circle in the Storm (UK), JINSHAN: Seams of Gold (USA), ROOTS (Greece), Walking Until The Break of Dawn (China), and light song (USA).
Later, on June 14, fiber artist and ocean activist Rebecca McGee Tuck leads an interactive weaving workshop where participants transform marine debris into meaningful art using simple frame looms, complemented by a slideshow of her work and that of other artists innovating with reclaimed materials, demonstrating how discarded objects can inspire creativity, dialogue, and climate-conscious change.
