Art Circle: 10 Minute Challenge

Date: Thursday, July 2nd
Time: 7:00–8:30 PM (doors open at 6:45 for casual mingling)
Location: Arts Wayland, 35 Andrews Ave.
Topic: 10 Minute Challenge
A couple of years ago, two journalists for the New York Times challenged their online readers to look at a different piece of art for 10 minutes each month, uninterrupted. One reader decided to take it much further. He took it upon himself to look at one painting in his local museum, for 100 hours, sitting for 1 hour at a time, twice a week. The experience brought him a new appreciation for life. As he said, “The painting doesn’t change, but I do.”
Last Sunday, the journalists produced a print version of their “10 minutes challenge” in the newspaper. For our next Art Circle on July 2, 7-8:30, we, as a group will take up this challenge. Together, we will pick one of the six pieces of art printed, at large scale, in the NYT. After 10 minutes of looking, we will talk about what we saw in the art. No art background or art history knowledge required.
Come connect, share, and be inspired.
Please RSVP to brushandlathe@gmail.com so we can plan seating and refreshments.
Looking forward to seeing you there,
The Arts Wayland Team
