Art Circle: SOLD!

Date: Thursday, June 4th
Time: 7:00–8:30 PM (doors open at 6:45 for casual mingling)
Location: Arts Wayland, 35 Andrews Ave.
Topic: SOLD!
When your art is sold, it can be very validating. It means your creative efforts are valued. Your art will live on in another home. Your art brings joy to someone else. These are the rewards, not the money, we artists seek. But the reality of commerce is that we must assign a price to our work. Many struggle with this difficult task. There is advice out there:
- Time + Materials = Price? And if we gave ourselves a decent hourly rate, all our artwork would be unaffordable.
- Square inches X $/square inch = Price? But we all know that size does not correspond directly to effort or quality.
- Throw a dart at it and see what sticks.
- Don’t sell yourself short by setting your prices too low.
- Check out competitors’ prices and set yours accordingly.
- Keep your prices low to start because you can always raise your prices, but you should never lower them.
As artists, we are generally not comfortable with the business side of things. And as Americans, we do not like to talk about money in public. Our next Art Circle on June 4, 7-8:30 PM will be an opportunity to have an open and honest discussion about pricing your art and marketing and selling, in general. Share your experiences and your approach and learn from others, in a supportive environment.
Come connect, share, and be inspired.
Please RSVP to brushandlathe@gmail.com so we can plan seating and refreshments.
Looking forward to seeing you there,
The Arts Wayland Team
