The saddle on this horse is a little worn from all the love it has seen, but the mane still looks fresh.

About Marian Stanton
The Flying Horses Carousel in Oak Bluffs, on Martha’s Vineyard is the oldest continuously operated carousel in the United States. No visit to Martha’s Vineyard is complete without a ride on one of these horses, whether with children or not. Each brightly painted wooden horse is hand-carved with manes and tails of real horsehair and inset glass eyes. Riders try to catch a ring with every loop, hoping to be the lucky one to capture the coveted brass ring, which awards the winner with a free ride.
