Four Houses

This postcard is printed from an original watercolor and ink drawing. It shows a row of tall, skinny city buildings squeezed shoulder to shoulder, with rooftop antennas and chimneys, a zigzag fire escape, faded "MAGS" and "BAGS" signs, a striped awning and street lamps strung together with wires. It's a small, whimsical piece of an old city street to send to a friend or keep for yourself.

About Boris Rudelson
I'm a watercolor artist based in Wayland. I trained at an art school in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), and I've always preferred graphic media: watercolor, pastel, sepia and pencil. I love how watercolor builds in layers, with each wash adding depth instead of covering what's beneath. My work follows two paths: nature scenes like forests, brooks, mushrooms and wildlife, and whimsical architecture like crooked cottages, lighthouses and castles. In both, I try to stay on the line between the real and the imagined. My whimsical houses also appear in my children's book, Whimsical Way. I also paint commissioned house portraits.
