Broken but Beautiful

This is an abstract monotype created on a gelli-plate. The dominant curvy shape might be suggestive of a female figure, a vase, or an hourglass that has some imperfections. But despite or perhaps because of the imperfections, the figure or object is very beautiful.

I am a mixed media artist with a home studio in Needham, MA. While I love painting with oils and cold wax medium, recently, I have become intrigued with collage and the innumerable ways to express oneself using both hand-painted manufactured papers, photographs, digital images, magazines, fabric and text. I have also been exploring gelli-plate printing and monotypes. Creating engaging compositions and balancing shapes, colors, and textures is an immensely joyful and rewarding process!
