november-december26-427616
Anthill
Dozens of tiny houses are stacked high into a crooked tower: pagoda-style roofs, a clock, a bookshop sign, laundry lines, potted plants and rooftop antennas, each little home with its own story. Beside it, a tall tree holds a swing and strings of colorful flags, inviting you to stop and look closer. The piece is ink and watercolor on deckle-edge paper, mounted on a textured kraft mat in a slim gold frame.

Watercolor and Ink on Paper by Boris Rudelson

Size: 24x20

About Boris Rudelson
I’m a watercolor artist and illustrator living in Wayland. I trained at an art school in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg, Russia), and I’ve always preferred graphic media: watercolor, ink, pastel and pencil. I love how watercolor builds layer by layer, with each one adding more light and story. My favorite subject is whimsical houses: crooked cottages, lighthouses, castles and tall narrow homes covered in flowers and tiny details. Each one starts as a pencil sketch and grows into a place that feels almost real, but not quite. My art lives on the line between the real world and imagination, and I try to keep it there, never slipping into plain realism or pure fantasy. I also paint quiet forest scenes and illustrated the children’s book Whimsical Way: A Curious Journey on a Special Street.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0511/9154/6031/files/2026_November_Anthill_24x20-BorisRudelson.jpg?v=1793258382
