I trained at an art school in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), and I've always preferred graphic media: watercolor, pastel, sepia and pencil. I love how watercolor builds in layers, with each wash adding depth instead of covering what's beneath.  My work follows two paths: nature scenes like forests, brooks, mushrooms and wildlife, and whimsical architecture like crooked cottages, lighthouses and castles. In both, I try to stay on the line between the real and the imagined.  My whimsical houses also appear in my children's book, Whimsical Way.
