Class Max Size: 5
Instructor: Rahul Ray
Develop or refine your skill in painting with watercolor and oil pastels with Rahul Ray, beginning on Monday, October 9th. The class will be held in a studio setting and will focus on fundamental skills, such as observation, perspective, scale, and techniques. Sketching will be an integral part of the exercise. Various subjects, including still-life, floral, and portrait will be included in the exercises.
This will be an eight-week session, and success with watercolor considered a difficult medium, will be all but guaranteed. Oil pastels provide a versatile medium for painting with bright colors. They also allow ‘scratching’ with a sharp object to provide interesting effects. Subjects may include still-life, floral, and portrait.
Rahul Ray received his training in drawing and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, India. He regularly teaches arts at Arts Wayland and Wayland Council on Aging. He also gives private lessons. Rahul displays his art regularly at ArtsWayland, Wayland, and TillWave Gallery, Watertown, MA. He has also exhibited his artwork at the Natick Center for Arts, Natick, MA (TCAN), Longfellow Club, Wayland, The Calcutta Club USA, Acton, MA, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, India, as well as public libraries in Sudbury, Wayland, and Wellesley, MA

Feedback on Rahul’s class from a former students:
My expectations (as a beginner) for the class were simple. I wanted to learn basic watercolor techniques and practice what I was learning with the guidance of a teacher. I also wanted to learn how to really see the subjects and to try to develop my own style. I am getting this out of the class and am enjoying the process. -Sarah Chambers
