And Then They Met
Mixed Media on Reclaimed Cedar by Jodi Marshall
About Jodi Marshall
I graduated from Murray State University with a BFA in graphic design and sculpture and a BA in Art Education. I then studied Art Therapy at the University of Louisville and received My MA. After practicing therapy, it became important for me to return to my studio background and focus on my own art production. I have found that working with reclaimed wood is much like working with people in therapy. The process is as important as the final product and each piece of wood has its own personality, perceived flaws and history of experiences. All these factors influence how I engage and work with the wood. It’s a dynamic relationship between the wood and the medium being used, and in the end, I hope that my work brings out the unique textures of the wood to celebrate its history and uniqueness.
